CROSS COUNTRY

Coaches (Varsity and JV)

Head Coach: Nick Robertson

Assistant Coach: Nicole Kustok

Assistant Coach: Kelly Ryan

Assistant Coach: Sandra Sophiea

Program Philosophy

Cross Country builds it's philosophy on top of St. A's foundation of Love, Learn, Lead:

  • We want athletes to Love running
  • We want athletes to Love and have compassion for their teammates
  • We want athletes to Learn something about running they'll be able to use forever
  • We want our coaches and athletes to model inspirational Leadership

Program Overview

Cross Country is a Fall sport for girls and boys in grades 4 - 8. The 2023 season will run from August 22 to October 21. Practices are 3 - 4 days a week for 1 hour and focus on running form, mobility, and strength in addition to endurance and speed. With 4 coaches, we're able to tailor workouts to runners of all abilities.

St. A's competes in approximately 10 meets throughout the Fall in races ranging from 1 - 2 miles depending on age and the event. We compete in Class 1A as a member of IESA, and in our first year in IESA sent a runner to the State Championship Meet.

Cross Country is a unique alternative to other team sports in that we're co-ed, include a wide range of ages, and all our athletes "play the entire game." This allows the runners to build relationships, a respect for one-another, and a desire to push themselves that is nothing short of inspiring.

Heard in the Field

"The coaches foster an atmosphere of positivity and focus on the importance of hard work, growth, and supporting your teammates...This is a recipe for success on the field and in life."

"The program was so well organized and every step was communicated."
