Program Philosophy

Track & Field builds it's philosophy on top of St. A's foundation of Love, Learn, Lead:

  • We want athletes to Love the sport
  • We want athletes to Love and have compassion for their teammates
  • We want athletes to Learn something about running they'll be able to use forever
  • We want our coaches and athletes to model inspirational Leadership

Program Overview

Track & Field is a Spring sport for girls and boys in grades 4 - 8. The 2025 Season will run from March 11 to May 18. Practices are 3 days a week for 60 - 90 minutes and teach sprinting, distance running, throwing, and jumping techniques, along with mobility and strengthening.

St. A's participates in 5-10 meets throughout the Spring, most of which occur on the weekend. Athletes typically compete in 2 - 4 events based on preferences and meet rules. St. A's placed 1st in the 2024 CYO Championships setting a new meet record for total points while 4 athletes qualified for the IESA State Meet in 5 separate events.

Our large and diverse staff includes former D1 All Americans, USATF certified coaches, and decades of coaching and teaching experience at the middle-school level. We create engaging fast-paced practices that could have an athlete working on high jump, javelin, and relay handoffs all in a single 1-hour session.

Track & Field is a unique alternative to other team sports in that we're co-ed, include a wide range of ages, and our athletes are able to try a diverse variety of events. This allows the athletes to discover hidden athletic talents, as well as build relationships and a respect for one-another that is nothing short of inspiring.

Heard in the Field

"It was such a positive experience for my child, both physically and mentally."

- Parent of Athlete

"It was a perfect mix of challenging my child to do her best, but also meeting her where she was..."

- Parent of Athlete

"[My athlete] loves their teammates...and learned so much about running and mobility. The mobility and running exercises helped him avoid some heal strains that he had experienced in [other sports] over the past couple of years."

- Parent of Athlete

"The program...boosted my son's confidence and helped him to recognize his own athletic abilities..."

- Parent of Athlete
